Radio Ratings Certificate Course - Online

Online Course

The Nielsen Radio Ratings Certificate Course is a 4 part course covering all aspects of radio ratings in Australia – from collecting the data, understanding the numbers, through to ways to utilise those numbers in either the Sales, Programming or Planning and Buying environments. This Certificate Course is currently conducted at Nielsen sites throughout Australia on a regular basis for current subscribers. See 2008 Training Schedule link below for more information

However, Nielsen has recognised that there are a number of subscribers - and non-subscribers who are either not able to attend these classes in person, or do not subscribe to the data currently, who wish to learn more about Australia’s radio ratings system.

As such we have developed an online version of the course allowing anyone access to this valuable information at a nominal cost to cover administration of the site and provision of course materials.

Once registered, you are able to complete the modules and exams in your own time. At the successful completion of each module, a certificate will be awarded. Not all modules have to be completed – some people may choose to do only one – others will do all four.

This four part course is designed and conducted by Nielsen, with the support of Commercial Radio Australia.

The course is ideal for (but not limited to) all new staff, including management, especially in the Sales and Programming areas of the radio industry. Media Planners/Buyers at agencies, researchers and people who wish to work in radio, will also benefit from the course. Anyone already working in or with the industry will find it a great refresher to update his or her knowledge of the radio ratings system in Australia.

Note: This is NOT a software training course. This course deals with methodology, survey data concepts and practices, as well as practical means of using the data.

The Certificate and Course Material

The Radio Ratings Certificate Course is easy to use and to ensure participants understand the concepts there are a number of small exams to help you while you are learning. Once participants have completed all the exams they receive their results straight away - including a Certificate of Achievement. To pass the course the participants need to achieve 100% on all exams. The course gives participants the option to go back and re-sit the exam.

Sales/ Marketing vs Programming

Survey data is used in different ways for Sales/ Marketing/ Media Planning/Buying compared to it’s uses in Programming.

To account for this, there are two versions of the certificate course. One aimed more at the Sales, Marketing, Planning & Buying areas of radio - the other is aimed at Programming.

The topics covered in Parts 1 and 2 are the same for both courses. Only Part 3 deals specifically with Sales and Part 4 deals specifically with programming uses of the survey data.

Timing

One major benefit of doing this course online is that you can complete it at a time that suits you.

There is no time limit over which all four parts must be completed. However, the parts are structured so that you would need to complete them in order (1, 2, 3 or 4).
